A Skier's Prayer

Went skiing one winter morn

The breathless beauty of that day

            took me closer to death

For I measure my life in bundles of serenity

            not in time

In experience

            not in age

Down this glass powdered white slope came

And thought

I would be ever so delighted

To go to heaven in a golden chair lift
