Ode to Flowers

Ode to Flowers

As I walk through the flower garden
All that I see
are pretty flowers
My orbs are filled
Beautiful colors, scents abound
wildly
My heart swells
The ones most beautiful
I pick to hold close to me
and crush to my breast
to feel my heart
to hear the songs of my soul
You my darling are that Flower
Should you find one sweeter
I will become sweeter still

The only green is the stem
Which rests the petal
plucked like my heart string
To say “she loves me not”
I may die with envy
of the petal chosen
I may bloom forever
to hear her say
“she loves me!”
I will then be
and remain
The Sweetest Ever…

The New and Brilliant "Cananu Incansu !"

A Word from the Author & Synopsis:
[This is my first book of Science Fiction and the tenth in my series of books written as Author Asta Dido and certainly destined, with luck, to be a best seller. Virtually written in a continuous three day + writing session the story just flowed developing into a tale so wonderful and marvelous it’s as if it came from the mouths of the heroes, Ivan 12th and the Inca King, Atahualpa and the other leading characters themselves. Atahualpa himself seems to have given me the title “Cananu Incansu” from three thousand years past—of this, I have no other explanation! As the story unfolds we find ourselves in the Jungles of Peru in modern and past times complete with historical references to King Atahualpa, the Conquistador Francisco Pizarro and with Ivan Pinski and John Youngblood, age 14, who come in contact with the Ancient Inca’s through an accidental use of a hallucinogenic produced by frogs; they are told that ‘space aliens’ had visited them in the past and that is the launch pad of the events to follow in the year 2035 reversing the alien’s path and unbelievably ending in 3035 traveling in space to colonize a new home; I hope it to the Planet Hugo! (LoL)]
Would this book make a great movie? You betcha and, I will haunt the studios until it appears on a screen near you! But, why wait? Get your copy today!

Something To Look Forward To!

Being a kid
I remember
I could try
To go as high
As Unicorn’s fly
Then forgotten
For the longest time
For no reason
Or no rhyme
Adult life obscured my view
Of how it was when I flew
With Arden Drone’s so anew

Now as an older man
I have returned
With lifes scars
And having been burned
To that place
I once knew
To fly stronger and higher
My God, what a view

The kid in me rides along
And together both
We sing a song
How lovely is life
we can see
Was and is and still can be
There’s room for more
So, come be merry
We’ll make it three
Yes, be happy
And tra la la la lee
Free as all get out
As ever can be

Want to hear more
Just wait and see
What the muse of poetry
Has in his cup for me…

Swim with Whales at Sea

Whales at Sea
White whale, Narwhal
Tinkle my bells
Take me deep to depths
Where beauty lies
to seas of poetry
Deliver me where you speak with song
to poets souls
Then rise again
to take a breath and blow it high
with spouts full of flowery mist
with rainbows made with magic sights
that rise to skies to majestic heights
that thrills a heart with delights

With joyful fury slap the sea
to tell your friends the way whales speak
you have shown and he has arrived
He has seen the krill
and swallowed full
the billions of cells of unborn poems
in the soup of creation waiting still

They, the poems
that swim in the depth
of all Human minds
that can swim free if desired
just waiting for that
magical sea unicorn
for that Narwhal’s thrust
to pierce the membrane
that sets them free
of that calloused covering of skin
that many form
for fear they be followed
by naught but scorn

This I know
for I have seen
in a swim with whales
tickled and delighted
At sea in a dream…

FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK

How Lions Hunt, A Parable:

Humor & Satire by Asta Dido

Humans have watched lions hunt for thousands of years and yet much of mankind has never learned the lessons gained through simple observation.

Male lions don’t, as a rule, hunt! It is the female lions that hunt and they hunt as a group of two, three or more. Sometimes the lionesses are sisters and often not but, they form a team. There is no hierarchy here, no rank, no subservience just team work with usually the most successful lioness taking the lead. There is no equivocation; the other lionesses give her the lead position without jealousy knowing that giving her that responsibility will lead to a successful kill and food enough for all in the pride and especially the cubs.

How and why they actually hunt is not an act of cruelty but an act of survival and nature.

First they stalk their prey and select a “target” usually an old, infirm or injured animal. Then they stealthily move into position making sure they are neither seen, heard or smelled. They will almost crawl, in by inch, against the wind until perfectly positioned. One slip and the prey will be spooked and they will take off and a chance for a meal will be gone. If that happens too often the pride will dwindle and be conquered by a stronger and more successful group. Once they feel they are perfectly positioned the attack begins— with the first snap of a twig the prey animals panic and often scatter in many directions but the lionesses, “the sisters” are focused as they head for the kill. High speed for short distances is the rule (lions are not the fastest beasts of prey) and attack in several directions; the lead sister will run down and trip the hapless prey and go directly to the throat, bite through to the jugular vein and not let go. The other sisters will go for the gonads, haunches and the soft underbelly and it is all over in a few short minutes or even seconds.

Seeing the lead sister clamp on to its prey’s throat is a sight that is as awesome as the act is violent and efficient as it is deadly! The beauty of a tawny colored muscular lioness bringing down a zebra or eland in a death-lock at the throat is an action snapshot of such beauty that even primitive man recorded in cave drawings and myth…

The big male sits and watches as if being entertained and after the kill moves in for what is called the lion’s share but, leaves food for all the others. There is a reason for this as well in nature’s plan. If he is the biggest and the strongest he becomes the alpha male; the one who will mate with the sisters and the lion who will pass on his genes to the next generation. If he is big and the strongest he will defeat any challenger and his line will survive and be passed on. If not, if defeated, even his cubs will be killed—that’s natures plan as well.

When one of the lionesses comes into estrus and begins to ovulate she is mounted and the big male will have sex with her over and over again all day long with only mock complaints. The lioness will let the male know she is “ready” and she will not be put off by laziness or lack of interest—she knows how to get the male to perform and perform and perform up to 18 or more times or until, as expected, he drops from exhaustion.

Funny you should ask: If smiles on lions’ faces could be detected it would be on some sated sister lionesses’ face. My sense of satire dictates that the male can be found asleep in front of his tv on some sofa in his den…
